Father’s Day

I’ll post more pictures of drill camp soon. But this is something i’ll like to share…

It was Father’s Day during LDC1 and Drill camp.  We were to break camp in the evening, that means not too much time to spend with Dad, the officers wanted to break camp earlier, so that all of you could spend the special day with Dad. However, we had to stick to the original programme and hence left it as it is.

Well, Sir did remind you to wish your dad a Happy Father’s Day. Did you? I guess some of you do have a great relationship with your dad, but perhaps some of you may not share that same bond with your father. Perhaps for some of you, Dad was never in existence, for some of you, Dad was special, but he has left you. Well, we do have our fair share of relationships, good or bad. But whatever the case, family is something we cannot choose. We cannot choose the kind of parents or siblings we want, like the way we choose our friends, however, we can choose the way we treat them.

Well, I never shared a close relationship with my dad. There are many characteristics of him which I dislike. Though I know Dad does love me, perhaps in a way he never showed or did not know how to portray, but it was hard to comprehend and communicate with him. I often thought to myself, if i had my own kids, I’ll never want to be the parents, at least my dad was to me. Perhaps I did not understand him or perhaps he didn’t try hard enough. Sometimes it is hard to love him the way I should. I’m not perfect, and I’m struggling in every aspect to relate and respect the earthly father God has given me.

But whatever I did not find in him, I found in God. Through Jesus, we have access to the holy God whom we could relate to Him as Father.

The bible records for us in Galations 3,

6Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” 7So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.”

Well, who is God to you? Is He just someone we go to when we need help or meet a big problem or crisis? To me, He’s God, Master and the perfect father I never had, but now possess forever. He is my King.

Who is God? God is King.
