Day 1: On route to Siem Reap, BBLC, Cambodia
It was a magical journey. Our boys enjoyed themselves…. but before they really had fun, they were truly in for a shock at BBLC. Let’s trace their journey…..

Preparing to board Jetstar

Yeah.. this was the entire Team 66TH!! Envious?!

Safe arrival at Siem Reap airport! These are my personal bodyguards. =P

Breakfast at an expensive cafe with limited serving of food… that keep me starving….

Man! What a journey! The wet muddy 10 min trail leading to our destination.. as it is, our boys are beginning to regret signing up for this trip.

Nicely painted classroom at BBLC. Do you think our boys are enjoying themselves thus far?

Introduction to BBLC man-in-charge, Sir Rueben and his wife, Jia Yin.. and there’s also Jason, who’s somewhere out there…

Then the torture begins… clean-up was absolutely necessary for human living…

We’ve been promoted to be contractors, lying the mat so that the room will be clean.

After all the sweat, we’re not done yet! It’s time to meet our guests, our friendly Cambodian friends.

As night falls, the toads, mosquitos and gheccos greeted us….. Electricity turns off and heat moves in… Yet, our officers wanted to know which on this chart represents us? What do you think?
hmmm… many of us were positive. Really? How many of us are seriously thinking how we could continue here for the next few days? How many are shouting, I wanna go home NOW!” Yet, i’m sorry, boys, this is just the beginning…..
Terrorism in our days, What does it mean for us?
Some food for thoughts…. as we live day to day, getting down to our businesses be it in school or now during holidays, we cannot go about ignoring the things happening in the world today.
Terrorist attacks in Mumbai killed Hoei Yen, we have friends or family members still stuck in Bangkok as anti-government protestors refuse to leave the airports. What does it or what could it mean to us?
Let’s think through about Ms Lo, who was killed in Mumbai a few days ago.

We mourn her death… a few reasons I could think of…
1) Her death makes terrorism real on our shores. Who could think of the terrorists hitting one of our very own people?
2) She’s young, 28, lawyer, just got married a year ago. Bright future, live life to the fullest, yet cut short.
3) She could be one of our friends, cousin, sister or schoolmate.
Singaporeans mourn at the tragedy done to this young life. Some wonder if the world is coming to an end. Some asked “God?!! where are you in all these? If you are good, show yourself!”
But Jesus reminds us, “In the last days, nations will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom” There will be chaos, injustice and turbulent times. Yet, those who trust in Jesus should never fear, for we know He saves.
Though we cannot see God at work in the terror, yet He reminds us that those who trust in God will be with Him in paradise. If Hoei Yen knew and trusted in Jesus, she will be in a better place.
Most of you might not remember, Rachel Scott, a young school girl from Columbine High School was killed by terrorists for being a Christian.

The killers ruthlessly pulled off the trigger at her temple. Tragic? Is her faith true? Did God abandon her?
Jesus said in Luke 21,
“But before all this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name. This will result in your being witnesses to them. But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. All men will hate you because of me. But not a hair of your head will perish. By standing firm you will gain life.”
Rachel is a reminder that:
1) The Bible is TRUE.
2) Jesus’s words are TRUE.
3) Persercution is REAL.
but most importantly,
4) PROMISE OF LIFE by standing firm is TRUE.
Hence, we know that Rachel is given the crown of life by Jesus today, right now in Heaven.
If terrorism is so real, we live in insecurity and hopelessness in the world today. We might live in fear all our lives, but are we to live a life of fear and regret, not knowing what lies ahead of us, should we end up like Hoei Yen, murdered ruthlessly by terrorists one day? Or are we going to be sure of where we are heading after death, like Rachel, stubbornly hanging onto her belief in Jesus, even with a gun pointed at her temple?
What is your choice?
